What to expect
While courses are simple to use, we do ask that parents follow a few guidelines. It's important to establish a routine of three, 25-minute sessions per week to cover one lesson. Working in small blocks helps to engage and retain interest, while keeping the learning process fun and interesting for your child. The courses cover Key Stage 2, and a full maths club consists of 142 screened maths lessons all linked to National Numeracy Strategy key objectives, plus additional resources. These include "Beat the Teacher" exercises, games, and online revision and main lesson exercises. Children work at their own pace to suit the needs of the family.
Parents have the most important role of providing ecouragement. It may also be neccessary for parents to purchase some small learning materials for your child to work with whilst working through the lessons and these will be listed in the lesson overview, which we recommend that you read through prior to starting each lesson.
Parents can access a trial lesson by clicking on the "sample lessons" box at the top of the page. It is possible to view a sample lesson from each of the four parts of the course by registering your details, simply press the "register button" and complete the form. We will then email you account verification and you will be able to view four sample lessons from the courses. Once registered you can then,if you choose, ask your child to do some quick assessments and this will enable us to recommend a suitable course. If you like the sample lessons you may purchase a course by clicking on the "purchase credits" button and the transaction can be completed online.
Success of the course
The original hard copy of the course has been used for home study by many thousands of children since 1999 through our links with over 3000 schools in the UK. A survey carried out on 500 children that completed the course showed a success rate of 92% in achieving the target level or better in their key Stage 2 SAT's tests.
The new online version has enabled us to deliver this comprehensive course for as little as £25 for each course comprising 35 lessons.
